Celtics Have Traded Avery Bradley To the Pistons

With the Boston Celtics landing All-Star Gordon Hayward this offseason, it’s been interesting to see how they make the cap room to actually finalize the deal. They already had to give up Kelly Olynyk and there have been several names on last year’s No. 1 seeded Eastern Conference squad that have been thrown around on the trade block to clear the cap space to fit Hayward.

Today, the C’s have traded Avery Bradley and a second round pick to the Detroit Pistons for Marcus Morris, which will help pay Hayward that $128 million he is reported to sign for.

Interestingly, the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers were looking to trade for Bradley, but couldn’t get the pieces together to snatch him up from the Celtics. It seems like the Pistons won this trade, for what they got back in return. Surely, Boston could have gotten a better offer?

Avery will command a big pay day next season when his contract is up for his two-way game. Kyrie Irving has even been quoted as saying that Bradley was one of the best defenders he’s faced in the playoffs. So, that type of player is something teams hugely covet.

Unfortunately, for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the trade makes him a free agent and out in Detroit.
