Chicago Bears Hire John Fox as New Head Coach

After career year, Is Jay Cutler Finally saved?

Earlier this week, the Denver Broncos shocked the football world, revealing they agreed to mutually part ways with John Fox. He soon became the most targeted head coach on the market, as 37-year-old GM Ryan Pace made his first major move to ink Fox as the team’s new coach. Whether or not he fits the Bears system doesn’t matter at this point, as the team hired the best guy available in the winter free agency period for non-playoff teams.

Fox’s resume consists of a winning regular and post-season record, which is an automatic win for a team who has only been to the playoffs once over the last 8 seasons (last in 2010). During his 4-year tenure with the Denver Broncos, Fox won the AFC West division title each season and a trip to the playoffs each year. With Peyton Manning playing on a torn quad through the last month of the playoffs, Denver failed to reach the Super Bowl in an upset loss last weekend to the Indianapolis Colts. With Manning unsure whether retirement is becoming a reality, John Elway moved forward to “mutually” have Fox exit and wish him the best in future endeavors.

The Bears currently have the 7th overall pick for this spring’s NFL Draft; and could attract many free agents to pair up with a new head coach – alongside a quarterback fresh off the best career of his life, with no offensive line.
