Chris Bosh & Miami Heat Part Ways Under Terms Before Free Agency

Summer Seventeen Free Agency just got crazy!

Over the last two seasons, Chris Bosh has been inactive due to blood clot issues, that traveled from his calf to his lung. After getting private doctors to clear him before a physical in South Beach, he received some unfortunate news last fall. Originally, he was scheduled to return to Miami Heat, but would team doctors wouldn’t clear him in time for training camp.

While the two-time champion has been quiet with his displeasure about the situation, he’s finally been granted his wishes. Today, the team and league players’ association have worked out a tentative agreement to allow both parties to move on. The 33-year-old, who hasn’t played since February 2016, is still due $52 million over the next two seasons. However, a significant portion of the guaranteed contract will now be covered by insurance, and will come of Miami’s books.

The Heat will now have a second additional maximum contract slot on their cap room this summer and will be able to add another contributing piece around their core of Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic and Dion Waiters. As far as Bosh, we’re assuming he will be taking his talents to the west for one of the contenders missing a stretch big (see: Golden State Warriors).
