The last time the Dayton Flyers made it to the Sweet 16? 1984.

Tyler Ennis was trying to carry the Syracuse Orange when it counted most and missed two key shots to end regulation (one from the top of the key and the final three), to give the Flyers a 55-53 win. Ennis was driving to the basket and converting prior to that, which is confusing as to why he would settle for jump shots with his last two drives.

The 11th seeded Flyers played great defense and stopped Syracuse beyond the arc, holding the Orange to 0-10 in three-pointers.

C.J. Fair ended the game for Syracuse with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while teammate Tyler Ennis 19 points and 3 assists. On the other side of the ball, Dyshawn Pierre led all scores for Dayton, scoring 14 points and bringing down 6 rebounds.

Dayton will either face Kansas or Stanford in the Sweet 16.
