Deron Williams Will Join Mavericks After Nets Buyout

NBA basketball game - Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat

D-Will returns home

With the Dallas Mavericks scrambling to put together a squad to compete next season in the tough Western Conference after the drama surrounding DeAndre Jordan, they make one significant move to fix their backcourt (the Rajon Rondo experiment failed miserably last season). After agreeing on a buyout from the Brooklyn Nets to save salary cap and stay away from the luxury tax, Deron Williams will be going to his hometown team on a 2-year, $10 million dollar deal.

The stock on the point guard has plummeted in recent years, as his numbers have been declining in Brooklyn. Word is that he didn’t even want to play basketball anymore, but maybe this move can reinvigorate him and take his career back to what it once was.

This isn’t the first time Dallas tried to get Williams either. They were in the running for his services during free agency in 2012, before he joined Brooklyn and his career took a disappointing turn. Deron is excited in the change and scenery and hopes that reuniting with former Utah Jazz teammate Wesley Matthews sparks a strong comeback.
