ESPN + VICELAND

Today, V.I.C.E. media and ESPN have officially entered a production and distribution deal across mobile, digital and TV platforms. VICE Sports is now in the process of creating new short-form exclusive series(s) for ESPN, which will air across all networks within the umbrella.

Under the deal, re-air films from ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary series will appear on the company’s recently launched VICELAND channel. Pertaining to the original shows through both ESPN and VICE, both companies said, “We will take audiences around the world to look at dominant athletes, fascinating characters and championship events that reside outside the mainstream.”

Viceland’s Vice World of Sports is also set to see production for the Disney-owned network – which will also have digital features on WatchESPN and its linear channel. Look for more news in the coming months, regarding information of the new shows we can expect later this year.

The production and distribution agreement includes:

• VICE Sports and ESPN Films will create brand-new short-form series to run across both ESPN and VICE properties. Original shows in development will take audiences around the world to look at dominant athletes, fascinating characters and championship events that reside outside the mainstream. Additionally, VICE and ESPN are developing a short-form animated series.

• Select VICE Sports series including original episodes of The Clubhouse will run across ESPN’s linear and digital channels, including WatchESPN.

• Films from ESPN’s critically acclaimed documentary series 30 for 30 will re-air on VICELAND.

• ESPN will feature digital cutdowns of the VICELAND show VICE World of Sports, after programming premieres on VICELAND. Full episodes of VICE World of Sports will air on ESPN properties.
