Watch Undisputed for NFL / First Take for NBA
Since launching in 2013, Fox Sports 1 has been trying to position themselves as a legit threat in challenging ESPN as the no. 1 sports channel. So much, that they even hired Skip Bayless last year and gave him his own show on the network to compete with ESPN’s First Take.
While his former co-worker Stephen A. Smith is still winning the ratings war in the morning, after the company moved his show to their main network just two weeks ago; the worldwide leader in sports is definitely in panic mode after losing 2 million subscribers just last year.
Earlier today, Fox Sports 1’s public relations social media account commented on how their Undisputed morning show scored a major head-to-head win over SportsCenter by 28 percent in viewership. Well, this struck a nerve with somebody at ESPN, as the Connecticut-based company sent out a surprising comment this afternoon – in reference to their ratings war.
At the moment, ESPN has an overall 5-1 ratings edge over FS1, but the significant decline of viewers over the last year and increase for their competitor has been taken notice of. Publicly acknowledging that a battle was even going may bite the Disney network down the line, which we’re sure viewers will take notice of and see what the fuss is about from the little channel in Los Angeles.
Fri (1/20), @FS1's @Undisputed scored its third head-to-head win over SportsCenter, by +28% on viewership (127,000 v 99,000) from 10a-12p ET
