All of the chatter and rumors about Giannis Antetokounmpo leaving the Milwaukee Bucks have been put to rest. The two-time MVP is staying put and will sign for the long-term.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Greek Freak has signed a 5-year, $228 million dollar SUPER MAX with the team, with an op-out after year four. If he hadn’t put ink to paper, he would have become an unrestricted free agent this next summer.
He also posted the news to social media.

Although the Bucks underachieved last season, exiting the playoffs early at the hands of the Miami HEAT, Antetokounmpo had a great season. He won MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season (the third player to ever do it besides Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon). For the season, he averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
Milwaukee also made moves in the offseason and acquired Jrue Holiday in a trade, signed Torrey Craig, and drafted Louisville’s Jordan Nwora.
The Bucks will attempt to make a deep run in the playoffs and at least Giannis signing will avoid the distractions of what would have been his impending free agency.
