D-Lo to the Bay Area
Earlier today, the Golden State Warriors lost Kevin Durant in free agency to the Brooklyn Nets. Well, coincidentally, the team has agreed to a deal with their cross-country acquaintance, as D’Angelo Russell has been traded to the Warriors.
Prior to free agency, Russell was one of the most sought-after players, including rumors of the Lakers planning to target him. As part of the deal, D-Lo gets a $117 million max-deal with the team over the next four years, and also receive Treveon Graham and Shabazz Napier.
This deal merges with the Kevin Durant to Nets move, as the Warriors will also send Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies, along with their 2024 1st.

Andre Iguodala was informed by Warriors early last week that he could be traded to unload salary in event Kevin Durant moved on, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Today’s trade to Memphis wasn’t a shock.

If you need any reminder that the NBA is a business, the Warriors trading Andre Iguodala to Memphis to clear out room for DLo is it. There’s deep sadness in Golden State at the prospect of this group w/out him. He’s held in extremely high regard by the staff & players.

Theory: D'Angelo wants to go to Minnesota but they couldn't clear Wiggins and he was too nervous to wait, watch the bag dry up. So Dubs sweep in to facilitate. Half-year rental then move for RoCo and Teague at deadline for longer-term depth/cheaper Iggy replacement. Re-sign both.
