Iman Shumpert Explains Why Kyrie Irving & LeBron James Parted Ways

Shump visits everyday struggle!

Last spring, the Cleveland Cavaliers had respectable role players in DeAndre Liggins and Iman Shumpert. Both were needed in the NBA Finals to stop the bleeding against the Golden State Warriors. However, Tyron Lue and his staff felt offense was more important than getting stops.

Well, after having an entire summer to think about why he wasn’t getting playing time last June, Iman Shumpert was guest on Everyday Struggle yesterday to open up on the mega-trade, featuring Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas. He also went to clear the air on the two having any real animosity saying, “It’s two dudes who need the ball. LeBron needs the ball, Kyrie needs the ball. If I get the ball so I can make sure I have my 20 a game, that takes away from LeBron’s 40 that you want LeBron to score.”

He even went to explain how he was one of the closest players to King Kyrie on the team, citing that LeBron hangs out with J.R. Smith the most in Cleveland (also future Lakers role player in 2018).

Take a look at the entire interview below, with Shump speaking on his wife Teyana Taylor’s career making him initially go crazy, dealing with internet trolls and improving his basketball craft.
