James Harden Agrees to Largest Super-Max Extension in NBA History

This is all guaranteed by the way. . .

Just two weeks after shocking the NBA with the biggest trade of the summer landing Chris Paul, the Houston Rockets have inked James Harden to an insane contract. Team GM Daryl Morey is sold on the team being able to close the gap with the Golden State Warriors next year and has given a super maximum extension to James Harden, that will guarantee him $228 million through 2023.

With 2 years left on his current contract at $59 million, the beard’s four-year extension carries value of $170 million – making it the richest in the history of the league. While the team is waiting to see how this pending one-year experience goes with CP3 before he inks a max-deal with the team, they’re also pursing Carmelo Anthony. However, the only question with the All-Star swingman is whether or not he’ll be able to co-exist with former New York Knicks head coach, Mike D’Antoni.

Throughout the entire year, Houston was focused on maintaining their superstar player on the team and gave him every perk available from the brand-new CBA rules. Last year, James had a career-best season, averaging 29 points, 11 assist, and 8 rebounds a game – coming just second in final MVP voting. Through his expected salary, he will earn: $37.8M in 2020, $40.8M in 2021, $43.8M in 2022 and $46.8M in 2023. Just imagine what the Steph Curry extension will be next year.
