James Harden Stands Up for Carmelo Anthony, Says He Deserves a Chance

With the news of Carmelo Anthony being traded from the Houston Rockets to the Chicago Bulls (as they look to waive him), one of his old teammates spoke up on his behalf a day later, giving him the props he deserves.

James Harden was asked by the media today what he thinks of ‘Melo and he went on to say his situation with the Rockets not working out sucks, but he deserves a chance:

“Yeah, man. Melo is one of the best to ever hoop. He loves the game of basketball. Some guys just do it just because they’re gifted or they’re athletic or they can shoot the basketball. There’s not that many players that like, love to hoop. … It kind of sucks that it didn’t work out. It is what it is. I just hope he finds somewhere where they can embrace him and he can still hoop. So he [gets to] make that decision that he’s done [playing]. I just want to see him hoop, see him happy, and I mean, he deserves it, honestly. Like, he’s put so much time and effort into this game that he should be able to hoop and still have fun playing the game of basketball.”

He also spoke on being compared with names like Wilt Chamberlain and other elite players in the game and working on his step-back 3-point jumper.
