Kawhi Leonard Speaks For First Time After Being Traded to Raptors

For the better part of the past year, Kawhi Leonard hasn’t said anything. He didn’t say much about his injury when he was in San Antonio, he didn’t say anything about the tension with the Spurs, and he didn’t say much about his trade to the Toronto Raptors when it happened.

That is, until now.

For Raptors media day, Kawhi sat on a panel with Danny Green and Toronto GM Masai Ujiri to talk about the new season, things to expect for the year with his new team and to answer questions about his previous team.

Leonard said he’s looking forward to this year and how excited he is to play with the young guys. He also said he has no regrets about what happened, and wants to do great things in Toronto. As long as he has on a jersey, he wants to do his best. As far as his long-term commitment to the team, he tipped around the answer, saying that he’s just focused on this year and to win a championship.

It was interesting to hear Kawhi speak — and for such a long time — but we couldn’t really get a pulse of what he was thinking besides what he said.

That “Kawhi laugh” was rather awkward too.
