Kevin Durant on Whether or Not He Left Thunder Because of Russell Westbrook

KD at Vegas at Team USA camp!

Two weeks after making the biggest free agent decision since LeBron James in 2010, Kevin Durant still has many questioning his move to the Golden State Warriors.

With former players around the league and high-tier media trying to villainize Durant and the Warriors franchise, the newest member of Dub Nation briefly addressed media yesterday at Team USA Men’s Training Camp on leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first time.

Regarding whether or not he left OKC because of Westbrook and his on-court style of play and being the team’s alpha-male, Durant said, “No, it wasn’t a reason I left. It wasn’t. Obviously coming out now, all these reports are gonna come out. But I can’t really control it. I made a decision based on where I wanted to go. Simple as that. We can talk about all the reasons and the factors, but it’s simple. Golden State is where I wanted to play basketball.”

As the Thunder push for a resigning or Russell this summer and avoid losing him in free agency for nothing like they did this month with Kevin, Westbrook still hasn’t spoken with media or the team about his future. Watch more from the q-and-a session above, where Durant also talks whether or not he and Westbrook discussed their futures together before obvious happened.
