Leicester City Wins Premier League Title

In what could arguably be the most compelling story in the history of professional sports, Leicester City have won the Premier League title for the first time in their 132-year history.

Why is that so significant, you ask? Because they were 5000-1 odds to win to start the season. To put it in context, the Foxes were near relegation status last year, barely escaping and staying afloat in the league. With virtually the same team, Claudio Ranieri turned things around and led them to the top of the English football world in unthinkable fashion.

The fact that a team not named Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United didn’t win the title is already a shocker, but for them to become only the sixth club to do it in the history is pretty amazing. Especially with those odds.

Leicester City couldn’t seal the deal on Sunday against Manchester United, drawing at Old Trafford, but with Tottenham and Chelsea ending in a draw at Stamford Bridge, the team clinched the title.

If you still don’t understand how remarkable a feat this is, comparing it to the NFL, the Cleveland Browns have 400-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl next season.

Salute to the Foxes.
