Magic Johnson Responds to Klay Thompson Saying “Warriors Are Better than Showtime”

Magic Johnson calls into First Take

Over the weekend, the Golden State Warriors took a comfortable 2-0 series lead over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers – as they prepare for an imminent second consecutive title. However, following their victory Sunday night, Klay Thompson jokingly took a jab at his dad saying his current defending champion team is better than the Showtime Los Angeles Lakers of the ‘80s.

While that obviously isn’t the case, due Magic Johnson and his cohorts playing through physical hand-checking, to average 118 points a game, ESPN’s First Take held a debate on who was the better team. With Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless having a conversation, Magic Johnson called into the show on live TV, which prompted him to discuss and explain how there were no comparisons.

Magic did commend the Warriors for their elite level play to maintain the quality of play throughout the league, but said they’ve never played a team like Showtime. Take a look at the greatest point guard of all-time breaking down how Dub Nation would have a problem with Laker Gold.

Are you really letting us ignore your Cavaliers to talk dream match-ups, LeBron?
