Michael Jordan & Dominique Wilkins Reminisce on 1988 Dunk Contest

The greatest dunk contest ever?

Considering these days the dunk contest is underwhelming, many in the younger generation of basketball fans don’t know how things used to be in the golden age.

Back in 1988, Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins had one of the greatest battles on the court, one-upping each other with some of the greatest dunks the All-Star game has ever seen. This was at a time when some of the most marquee names would be proud to take part in the main event, not like now, where your big All-Stars can’t be bothered to partake in it.

Since the All-Star game took place in Chicago, Air Jordan wasn’t going to let anyone take his crown from the year before in his own court. The two went back and forth with power dunks and acrobatics that came down to the last dunk.

As you can see by the picture below, the rest was history.
