Michael Jordan Nixed A Scottie Pippen for Tracy McGrady Trade

WHAAT!?

With the NBA Draft completely taking over the sports world following the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ first ever championship in 52 years, plenty of former players have been looking back at their experiences.

Tracy McGrady is a regular on ESPN’s The Jump and he dropped a jewel out of nowhere to start the show earlier today.

After they showed footage of him being drafted in 1997, he casually mentioned the fact that Jerry Krause was trying to make moves on draft night, pushing for a Scottie Pippen to the Toronto Raptors trade for the young high school prospect. There was a secret meeting days before the draft where the possibility was discussed and he thought it was going down up until his named got called.

Of course, Michael Jordan wanted no parts in that and axed the deal before it happened.

The 97-98 Bulls went on to win their third championship in a row, completing their second 3-peat during the MJ era before he retired again.
