Nike, Adidas & Under Armour Don’t Want Lonzo Ball Deal

It’s not often a projected Top 3 pick goes into the NBA without a shoe deal, but apparently, Lonzo Ball will be one of those rare exceptions. And that’s thanks to his father Lavar.

According to ESPN, Nike, Adidas and Under Armour all passed on sponsorship because Lavar wanted the companies to license his Big Baller brand and they weren’t having it.

“We’ve said from the beginning, we aren’t looking for an endorsement deal. We’re looking for co-branding, a true partner. But they’re not ready for that because they’re not used to that model. But hey, the taxi industry wasn’t ready for Uber, either.

Just imagine how rich Tiger [Woods], Kobe [Bryant], Serena [Williams], [Michael] Jordan and LeBron [James] would have been if they dared to do their own thing. No one owned their own brand before they turned pro. We do, and I have three sons, so it’s that much more valuable.”

Apparently, Lavar already has a prototype shoe in place for Big Baller Brand, but none of the companies he met with were interested. With the Big 3 shoe companies passing on sponsorship, he will look towards China to look for an endorsement.

At this point, it is not known how successful Big Baller Brand is selling, but he or Lonzo will not be getting checks from Nike, Adidas or Under Armour.

Facts are, nobody is trying to deal with Lavar.
