Can Brady finally win another super bowl?

Following arguably the game of the year, which saw the Seattle Seahawks rally from 16 down to defeat the Green Bay Packers, we were granted the AFC Championship. The New England Patriots were home once again for their final game of the window year at Gillette Stadium, in a match-up against the Indianapolis Colts.

In the Andrew Luck era, he’s yet to ever defeat the Patriots and that trend would unfortunately continue, for one of his worst games ever as a starter in the NFL. Both teams would encounter inaugural three-and-outs, but during the Patriots’ punt to the opposition, they would recover the ball on a muffed catch. Now in really good field position on the Colts 26, New England would score in under two minutes, on a 1-yard touchdown rush from LeGarrette Blount.

Following a quick TD pass from Tom Brady to James Develin, the middle of the 2nd quarter would see Indianapolis score their first and only score of the game, on a Zurlon Tiplon TD rush. Before halftime, Stephen Gostkowski would chip in his only FG of the game from 21 out, to give New England a 17-7 lead.

In the 2nd half, the Patriots would pour on 28 more points, to finish with a 45-7 victory. This obviously isn’t the final outcome many expected, but the Patriots made a major statement Sunday night at home. For the first time since October 2012, the New England Patriots will be battling the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. While the big game isn’t for another two weeks in Arizona, both teams will be getting much-needed rest before their take the field in what could be one of the greasiest championship game the league has ever seen.
