Is the Zen Master about to return? According to some sources at ESPN, it might happen. The report states that over the past couple of years Phil Jackson has worked to get his health back in order and now wants to return to the NBA. Though, not necessarily as a coach, as apparently Jackson has told interested teams that he would prefer a front office role similar to what Pat Riley has with the Miami Heat. News had broke out yesterday that Jackson had been approached to take over the Knicks head coaching position, but that he declined as he is looking to make the move to the front office. From the Knicks standpoint, bringing in Jackson in any kind of role would go a long way in bringing back Carmelo Anthony this summer, who is of course about to test free agency for the first time.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out and how serious Jackson looks at any of the offers that are put in front of him this summer. Could a Lakers reunion be in the works with them looking to bring the franchise back to where it once was? We will continue to update this story as it proceeds.

UPDATE 1: ESPN is reporting that Phil Jackson is close to accepting a deal to become the Knicks President Of Operations. We will continue to update with further details as they become available.
UPDATE 2: The Knicks have called a press conference on Tuesday to announce the hiring of Phil Jackson.
