Roger Goodell Responds To Ray Rice Controversy

Get answers right from the man himself in his CBS interview

It’s no secret, Roger Goodell has been under fire ever since news of Ray Rice’s domestic violence incident first broke out. From the handling of the situation by the NFL, to the 2-game suspension Rice first received. It seems like in every instance, the NFL Commissioner was playing clean-up-the-mess, and apologizing for his actions. He even implemented new policy across the NFL to show he will not tolerate this type of behavior.

Most of the criticism in the 24 hours following the new video of Rice surfacing, was how the NFL did not have knowledge or previously watch the tape before it got into the hands of TMZ. Did the league turned a blind eye to what happened? How could the commissioner not obtain that video prior it leaking? Why was the previous punishment such a slap on the wrist?

These are all questions he answered to Norah O’Donnell from CBS This Morning. In their interview, Goodell denies any viewing to the tape prior to TMZ posting it, saying the NFL tried to obtain the video and wasn’t granted permission. He mentioned he found out online, just like the rest of us and the reason whyy he didn’t go to the casino to try to obtain the video in the first place is because that would be illegal. He emphasized that his sources come from law enforcement and he doesn’t seek outside help that isn’t credible.

During the CBS interview, Goodell also addressed whether his job is on the line or not and what actions the NFL is taking against domestic violence, among other things.
