Russell Westbrook Puts Up a 57 Point Triple Double Against Magic

Just when you were starting to think that Russell Westbrook getting a trouble is practically normal and he couldn’t ever top himself: he does it again. He makes NBA history.

Tonight, Russ completely took over the game and willed the Oklahoma City Thunder to victory against the Orlando Magic. And it took more than regulation. He did it in overtime.

Westbrook finished with 57 points, 11 assists and 13 rebounds, which is the highest point total for a triple double in NBA history. The last person to set the record was James Harden, who had 53 points, earlier this season. Now Russ owns that record.

With tonight’s stat sheet, he put up his 38th triple double of the season, only four short of Oscar Robertson‘s record of 41, with only seven games remaining in the season.

Not only that, but tonight’s 21-point come-from-behind win was the biggest in franchise history.

Oh yeah, the Thunder also clinched a playoff spot with tonight’s win. They currently sit at sixth in the Western Conference and only one game behind the Los Angeles Clippers. If they win out and the Utah Jazz drop some games, they could even move into the fourth seed.

The overtime performance by Westbrook was so wild that even the Magic fans chanted “MVP!”

That’s beast.
