Russell Westbrook Reacts to 2017 All-Star Starter Snub

One of the biggest stories to come out from the 2017 All-Star starters being revealed was the fact that Steph Curry was voted into the Western Conference lineup as a starter over Russell Westbrook. The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard has been averaging a triple double on the season and couldn’t lock in a spot in the starting five.

As crazy as that sounds, the snub doesn’t seem to be affecting Westbrook. On Friday during media questions, he addressed his thoughts on the situation.

“It is what it is. That’s the nature of the business, the game. I just play. I don’t play for All-Star bids. I play to win championships and every night I compete at a high level, and it’ll work out. I just continue doing what I’m doing and play the game the right way and everything else will work out.”

It turns out the players and media voted Russ No. 1, but the fan vote pushed him all the way to No. 3 and he lost the tie-breaker causing James Harden and Curry to beat him out.

It’s unfortunate this happened and the NBA should truthfully do something to repair this omission because there’s no way Westbrook shouldn’t be starting for the Western Conference when he’s been playing an ungodly and historic season up until now.
