Russell Westbrook Records His 7th Consecutive Triple Double

HALF MAN HALF AMAZIN

We’re 10 days into December and not only did he go into the month averaging a triple double, but Russell Westbrook is on a historic run right now before our very eyes. Tonight against the Houston Rockets, the boy snapped again and recorded his seventh consecutive triple double. The last time someone did that was Michael Jordan back in 1989 and Oscar Robertson even before then, in the 1961-62 season Wilt Chamberlain also recorded a such streak in 1968).

Westbrook finished the game with a stat line that read 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The longest consecutive streak for triple doubles is nine by Chamberlain. He can pass Jordan on Sunday against the Boston Celtics and get within striking distance of NBA history if he can get to nine (for the tie) and ten (to be the only player to ever do it).

Unfortunately for the Oklahoma City Thunder, they lost the game, snapping their six-game winning streak. Westbrook tried to tie the game with less than 30 seconds to go, but his basketball enemy Patrick Beverly put the defense on him enough to stop him from scoring.

Beverly actually kept his paws all over Russ for a good span of the four quarters and was the x-factor that stopped the triple double machine from single handedly winning the game again.

On the other side of the ball, James Harden had a double double, scoring 21 points and dishing out 12 assists. Eric Gordon came off the bench and dropped 17 points for the Rockets too.
