Steve Kerr Shares Warriors Long Term Plans for DeMarcus Cousins

To start the season, the Golden State Warriors have been going off on teams from all angles. Whether it’s Steph Curry going off for 50 points or Kevin Durant snapping for 40 or Klay Thompson breaking 3-point records, Dub Nation is firing from all cylinders and taking no prisoners.

And they’re doing this all without DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup.

After acquiring him in free agency this past offseason, the talk has been around how the Warriors would keep all these contracts, especially since Thompson and Draymond Green need to be paid big deals if they want to keep the dynasty together for the long run. That luxury tax might be of historic proportions, though.

But what about Boogie? Turns out Steve Kerr knows what the organization is going to do:

“We made no bones about it when we signed him. It’s a one-year deal. We’re not going to have money to sign him next year, he knows that. So we’d like him to help us win a championship. We’d like to be able to help him get a great contract next year somewhere else. That’s the reality. So the best way to do that is to play really well and enjoy this season and everybody do the best we can and have fun with it.”

There’s still some factors to take into consideration (will KD leave for another team this offseason? Will Golden State pay Klay max money?) but as of now, the franchise is not looking at Boogie for more than a one-year rental.

If you could keep 3 out of the 5 All-Stars on the squad, who would it be?
