Houston Rockets Hire Mike D’Antoni as Head Coach

See ya later Dwight!

After serving tenures with the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers – Mike D’Antoni is headed to Houston. Last year, the Rockets fired Kevin McHale after just 11 games into the season and replaced him with assistant, J.B. Bickerstaff on an intern basis.

However, with the Rockets barely making the playoffs on an 8th seed last month, the team opted not to bring back Bickerstaff. Today, Houston has announced they have officially hired D’Antoni as the new head coach, after coming to terms on a new three-year deal.

With Dwight Howard likely to leave the team after his history with Mike in Los Angeles a few years ago, we do expect the Rockets to have one of the top-tier offensive teams in the league – as well as playing poor defense. Let us know in the comments what you think of this hiring.
