Thunder Hand Warriors First Back-To-Back Loss of Season

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals was stolen from the Golden State Warriors at home and the Oklahoma City Thunder took home court advantage. So how did Dub Nation respond? They came roaring back in Game 2, blowing out OKC at Oracle Arena. Game 3 was another demoralizing loss for the Warriors in Oklahoma City, with the controversy surrounding Draymond Green‘s kick on Steven Adams overshadowing the thunderous win.

In a must-win Game 4, the Warriors were supposed to tie the series. Golden State wasn’t going to lose back-to-back games, right? They didn’t do so once all season.

That statement couldn’t be anymore false after tonight.

With the momentum on Oklahoma City’s side, Kevin Durant plus Russell Westbrook wanted to keep the foot on Dub Nation’s necks and made sure they sent the defending champions packing to Oakland with a loss. Game 4 started out much like Game 3, with the Thunder starting out hot and then ending the first half on a run and up 20 points.

Things didn’t continue for long, as the Warriors found it inside them to crawl back into the game thanks to Klay Thompson‘s 19 point solo run, but with four fouls, Steve Kerr had to sit him down to end the third quarter and that’s when the Thunder went on another scoring spurt.

By the time the fourth quarter came around, the Thunder were overpowering the Warriors too much and Golden State could not muster up enough scoring output to attempt to make a comeback.

Steph Curry ended with 19 points for the game, but couldn’t find a stroke and could be seen missing layups in transitions when it counted the most.

Meanwhile, Durant and Westbrook finished the game 26 and 36 points respectively, with Russ loading up the stat sheet with a triple double as well.

Game 5 is now headed to Oakland, with the Warriors facing elimination.
