Tony Romo Is A Dallas Mavericks Player For the Day

If he’s not making headlines for being traded or retiring from football to head to CBS, Tony Romo has now started his farewell tour. On the bucket list before he said goodbye to the game he played as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, he also suited up for the Dallas Mavericks.

Romo got to wear the jersey, the jumpsuit, drop a few buckets during pregame warmups and pretty much do everything a Mav player would do, except enter the game.

He tried, though. But Mark Cuban wasn’t having it.

It was an overall good night for Tony’s farewell tour. He probably would have played if it was up to Cuban, but as he told Marc Stein after the game, the league wasn’t going to approve a 10-day contract for him. It sounded like the fine would be too much for the entertainment.

Apparently, Romo Day was just Mark Cuban keeping his word to Romo after the two saw one another at a Dirk Nowitski celebration. The only condition? Dallas had to be knocked out of the playoffs for Cuban to follow through with his part of the deal.

Check, and check.

Unfortunately, the Mavs lost the game. And the Denver Nuggets will probably be on the outside looking in for that eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

FINAL: DEN 109 | DAL 91
