Vontae Davis Retired from the NFL at Halftime of Buffalo Bills Game

In what could go down as the wildest retirement in NFL history, Vontae Davis decided enough was enough in today’s game against Los Angeles Chargers.

Essentially, the Pro Bowl CB told the coaches he wasn’t feeling like himself in the first half, then went into the locker room at the half, put on his streets clothes, informed the Buffalo Bills staff that he was retiring, and went home at halftime.

Teammates came out and said they’d never seen anything like this in their life before and took it as disrespectful of him to quit on the team mid-game.

Davis issued a statement of his mentality and mentions the fact that he wants to leave the game healthy for his family than “limp away too late”. He also explained his light bulb moment on the field, which led to his actions at the half.

Vontae signed a 1-year, $5 million dollar deal with the Bills this offseason, with $3.5 of it being guaranteed money and now leaves a hole in the secondary after starting the season 0-2 following their 31-20 loss to the Chargers today.

The only way this retirement is getting beat is if someone retires mid-play.
