Last month, during the World Series, Sony revealed that Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. would grace the cover of MLB The Show 17. While the game is still four months from releasing to the public, its San Diego sports studio is building buzz around its latest diamond slugger.

Over the weekend, at PlayStation Experience, we got a first look at the gameplay reveal for The Kid’s new Retro Mode – paying homage to many classic games longtime players will remember.

In the mode, you’ll have the ability to throw with ease across the pitcher’s rubber and move around the batter’s box. With classic on-screen displays, the retro mode will be entirely separate from Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty and Franchise Game modes, which the more advanced users tend to fire up during launch week.
