A 4K Xbox One console on the way?

With Microsoft’s e3 event set to take place in two weeks, reports have emerged what the company has planned for the coming months. If you remember last month, industry insiders premature revealed that a slim model was in the works, but now it looks like the Xbox One will receive a massive hardware update. According to Kotaku, Microsoft is set to release a new 4K resolution model, codenamed Scorpio, which will have a much more powerful GPU and a 2TB hard drive.

Unfortunately, there no details on whether or not the company would upgrade its internal I/O speeds, which could mean longer load times. However, the new Scorpio model is rumored to feature support for Oculus Rift, which Microsoft is currently seeking a partnership with the virtual reality brand. As Sony gears up for its upcoming PlayStation Neo 4K console in September, we’re curious how specifications will match up from the rivals. Look for an official announcement in June regarding both the slim model arriving before the end of the year and 4K expansion.
