The mid-generation upgrade is coming this September!

It looks like Nintendo isn’t alone having trouble with keeping confidential information about their next console out of the public eye. Earlier this week, a French video game distributor may have accidentally leaked the release and official name for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Neo console.

In a press release issued on Boursier, the mid-generation upgrade from Sony is now being called Neo 4K and is set to release within the first half of this fiscal year – meaning anytime from now until September. The console is set to support 4K image output, as well as have improved GPU, memory bandwidth and clock speed. If the believable rumor holds up, Neo 4K could release ahead of the company’s upcoming PlayStation VR device, which is set to hit retailers in October.

With Shuhei Yoshida unsure if there will ever be a PlayStation 5 down the road, we’re hopeful that there’s some kind of Neo 4K and PSVR upgrade plan available this fall. Let us know in the comments if you plan to upgrade with Neo 4K or make a purchase of PSVR later this year.
