Showtime Addresses Status of Live-Action ‘Halo’ Series

Showtime x Halo

Nearly five years ago, Microsoft revealed plans of doing a live-action Halo series for Showtime Networks. Since that time, fans have been in limbo, regarding information to surface about the show. However, a few days ago, TV Guide spoke with Showtime CEO David Nevins, as he finally confirmed that show was still in very active development.

He said, “It’s moving forward and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far. It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”

In previous years, we witnessed Peter Jackson have an epic fail with the official Halo movie in 2009 and most recently a Nightfall series on Xbox Live; it looks like Steven Spielberg may be onto something that could potentially become the Game of Thrones of their own network.

With HBO continuing multiple spin-offs of the show and Amazon TV up starting their own Lord of the Rings series, look for Showtime to aggressively move forward with a strategy later this year.
