HBO Confirms When ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Will Air

Winter is coming in 2019. . .

As HBO continues to brainstorm ideas for multiple prequel series with Game of Thrones, the network finally confirmed what many were already speculating. Today, Home Box Office Networks revealed that the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will officially air in 2019.

This marks the first time an entire calendar year will skip, before fans get their next dosage of action and drama in Westeros. Show creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss also re-iterated that the show will still feature six lengthy episodes, as many are also assuming could be upwards of 90-minutes each.

With filming for the show continuing into this spring (multiple endings to avoid spoilers), we’re not expecting any footage to emerge before holiday 2018 – at the earliest. Let us know in the comments below, if you’re in favor of HBO taking their time to execute the finale of its popular fantasy series.
