Common Has Now Won A GRAMMY, Emmy and Oscar

Quiet as kept, Common is out here racking up the awards. And the crazy part is they’re not even all in the music realm.

This past weekend, he managed to accomplish the unthinkable, winning his first EMMY for his social-driven record “Letter To The Free” thanks to the outstanding original music and lyrics from Ava DuVernay’s 13th documentary. Winning this award made him the first rapper in the history to have won a GRAMMY, Oscar and an Emmy.

That’s huge.

If he somehow ends up winning a Tony Award along the way, he will become the 13th person in life to achieve the virtually unachievable: the EGOT.

Congrats to Com’ for his many contributions to the culture!
