‘Fences’ set to hit the big screen this winter
In 2010, Denzel Washington and Viola Davis starred alongside of each other for the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Fences. The two are reprising their roles for the film adaptation of the play that takes place in Pittsburgh during the 1950s. The story follows a former Negro league baseball player, who is now working as a garbageman and struggling to provide for his family in doing so.
The first trailer for the film focuses on Washington’s character, Troy Maxson, as he attempts to adjust to the changing world around him and the difficult relationship he has a hard time maintaining with his son and wife.
Both Davis and Washington give gripping performances in the Fences trailer, which we think could score them Oscar nominations with awards season approaching.
Denzel Washington directs the movie that also stars Jovan Adepo, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Russell Hornsby, Mykelti Williamson, and Saniyya Sydney.
Fences is scheduled to release on December 25th.
