Fox Details How ‘The New Mutants’ Will Be a Trilogy of X-Men Horror Movies

The XMU is getting more whore

Last week, 20th Century Fox shared the official debut trailer for their anticipated film, The New Mutants. Soon after, director, Josh Boone revealed that the horror-inspired superhero project will now be the first of a trilogy he has in store with Marvel Entertainment.

Boone spoke in an interview with IGN about the new idea and concept for The New Mutants, as well as mapping out a plan for the following films to release within the X-Men Universe. He went to say, “These are all going to be horror movies, and they’re all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. This is certainly the ‘rubber-reality’ supernatural horror movie.

The next one will be a completely different kind of horror movie. Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film. Drawing from the big events that we love in the comics.” Considering the year brought of two of the biggest films in Get Out and It, it’s not surprising to us that Fox would take a gamble on the X-Men expanding into this never-before-done sub-genre in horror movies.
