HBO Shares More Details on ‘Watchmen’ Live-Action Series with DC Comics

This won’t be tied to the movie!

Last month, HBO President Casey Bloys formally revealed that his premium network was currently developing a Watchmen series. While the original DC Comics film is nearly a decade removed from its release, Home Box Office gave the public some clarity on the direction they’re currently taking.

With help from Lost and The Leftovers director Damon Lindelof, Bloys went to say, “I don’t want to talk too much about it, but Damon is thinking about it in a way exactly as you describe it. Which is, how do you take the material and derive from it a TV show, without making it a literal translation?” This means the network and DC won’t make the project a straight adaption from the film and will likely create scripts of their own that wasn’t in the previously released novels.

Although the series isn’t close to being in production, HBO and DC are taking this project series, in which they look to challenge Netflix’s Marvel Universe of the Defenders in the coming years.
