The first ever Hollywood feature to utilize this new technology!

Marvel Entertainment may be enjoying the success of Avengers Age of Ultron but they’ve just revealed some important news regarding its upcoming sequels. For the first time ever in Hollywood, the Alexa 65 IMAX digital camera will be used for motion picture.

With updated IMAX projections rolling into theaters, Marvel’s The Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 & 2 will look to change the landscape of Hollywood with the help of the Russo brothers. Captain America: Civil War is set to have some usage of the Alexa 65 camera for its release next year, but The Avengers sequels will be first to fully take advantage of the new technology in an entire film.

“Over the years, IMAX has had the incredible good fortune to work with some of the world’s finest, most talented filmmakers, who continue to push the envelope both technically and creatively,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment. “We could not be more excited to deepen our partnership with Joe and Anthony Russo, a pair of filmmakers we believe are next-generation trailblazers. Marvel’s Avengers franchise has become a global phenomenon and to have it pay off in this epic way using the IMAX/ARRI digital camera is the very definition of event movie-going.”
