Hey, hey hey! Smoke weed every day
With the Green Rush invading Colorado and Washington and other states getting ready to legalize marijuana recreationally, the dollar signs are lighting up in the eyes of potential investors and business men. Everyone wants a slice of the legal pie in what seems like a frenzy in the end of weed prohibition.
While more avid smokers account for a good portion of sales in the states where it’s now legal, casual smokers who don’t do it as often are the consumers the new market wants to target for the future. They’re the one’s that can carry the multi-million dollar ship into the billions. And watch more of the money pile up.
VICE visited with a regular mom named Jessica Roake from the suburbs of Washington D.C., who hadn’t smoked for years and flew her out to Denver to teach her what the new industry is all about. They showed her a grow-op, the new levels of edibles out now and they even took her to a Colorado dispensary to get a taste of the new strains invading the streets. It’s pretty funny she was afraid of “Green Crack” because of the name.
Then they head out to a private property where dozens more plants are being grown in the mountains and she got her first taste of a vaporizer pen with wax and lit up the joint she bought earlier in the day. By the way she was talking and conducting herself (see: continuous laughing, slurred speech, a big smile, etc.), it’s safe to say she was blitzed.
Did they bring her back to Mary Jane? Maybe. But if they can at least plant the seed and make her consider it, their job has been done. Now they have plenty more to convert.
