Mission Impossible 5 has some insane real-life stunts from the man himself
By now, you’ve seen the official trailer for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, which showcases an ending scene with Tom Cruise doing an insane plane stunt. Well, the legendary actor held a press event yesterday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas alongside his co-actors for the upcoming project and shared a story that stole the show.
It’s no secret that Tom has done some death defying stunts in past installments for the series, but clinging to a plane with no support on take-off in his first ever directed motion picture (because no one else would sign off on it to protect themselves) may have shown us how deep and crazy he is about the project.
The impossible sequence took him eight times to pull off, in real-time action – citing weather, speed, temperature, fumes and even birds were contributing factors into pulling off one of the year’s biggest scenes. Cruise soon jokingly said he was scared shitless from the stunt alongside co-stars Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson, who found themselves hearing a rare story from now the best stuntman in the business.
He closed out saying “As always, I will do everything I can to entertain an audience and put as many people into your theaters…I’m an aerobatic pilot and I’ve always wanted to do that.” You can get your chance to see Mission: Impossible 5 this summer, when it hits theaters nationwide and iMAX on July 31st.
