The Batman has been saved!
With rumors, surfacing on disagreements with the direction of the next Dark Knight, we were weary that Warner Bros. could actually cancel their biggest release of the DC Universe. That was until this weekend, when the production company announced Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) would officially direct and produce the next stand-alone Batman film.
Ben Affleck previously helmed both duties, as well as writing the script. However, with disagreements in its direction and Affleck reportedly complaining about being rushed to do a script; reports emerged that DC Films would have a team re-write the entire story.
At the moment, Affleck will show up to work as only an actor, having nothing to do with the outer-workings of the project (which is the best solution for everybody). If the project does bomb next year, with movie goers and critics voicing displeasure, he won’t be the one taking blame.
