Update: Future & Drake – What A Time To Be Alive [Album Stream]
Last night was supposed to be a special kind of night. Putting you’re belief in the music and internet Gods can be sketchy at certain times, but there’s other times when the powers that be come through and give us the unexpected. That of course was not the case this past Friday night.
In case you’ve been out of the loop. Last week news broke that a collaborative mixtape from two of the hottest emcees in the game right now, Future and Drake, would be dropping soon. Known for their surprise releases over this past year, we couldn’t help but to believe it. We started to believe it even more once we saw a few #FBGOVO tweets float across our Twitter timelines and even an image of a press release form that broke down the title, features, production and more. Hell, we believed it when that happened with Beyoncé’s re-release of her surprise album, so why not now?
Then just a few days ago, a site listed as PutInAllInAPlasticBag.com, showed up with a countdown, the two’s label and name logos that linked to their official websites. Everything and more that would make us believe that something would be releasing in the late night hours of September 18th.
Once the countdown was complete, the hashtag #ViewsFromTheFuture appeared, then a few more minutes were added to the timer. Once it completed again, an edited GIF of Drake appeared from his time spent on Degrassi: The Next Generation with him experiencing a morning woody and Meek Mill even showed up to admire the site.
We knew it was too good to be true, but we feel for it anyway. It’s safe to say, that it won’t ever happen again. Anyway, we decided to put together a Drake and Future playlist just so that we could cherish their past collaborations in one entire set, hoping that they would bless us with more.
