In what seems like news out of left field, Angie Martinez has announced that she will be leaving Hot 97 and today will serve as her last show. She posted the news on her social media networks only minutes before her radio show started.

Also known as “The Voice of New York,” Angie has had the #1 afternoon show in the tri-state area for years and got her start in radio close to 20 years ago. Not only has she interviewed the biggest and best in music and entertainment, but she also dabbled in music for a bit, releasing two albums (Animal House & Up Close and Personal).

We’ll keep you updated with information as it comes. Read her message below.

*UPDATE* Angie Martinez joins Power 105.

Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly….the listeners… for an unimaginable journey. Today will be my last show ❤️ stay tuned…. Love, angie

The secret is out and now it looks as if Angie Martinez will be joining POWER 105. Her show will run 2-6pm and also be syndicated in Miami on 103.5 The Beat. While syndicating Angie’s show into another major market like Miami is a big look, we are left wondering if Revolt TV will also lockdown a broadcasting agreement for her new show.

In an official statement released today, Angie said “I want to thank, Thea Mitchem, Tom Poleman and Doc Wynter for this incredible opportunity, I’m excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months.”
