Apollo Brown and Planet Asia have cooked up something special right here. The Detroit producer and Fresno rapper join forces on Anchovies, their new collaborative album out today on Mello Music Group. Built with raw raps and dusty beats, the 15-track project is a hip-hop lovers’ dream, with features from Guilty Simpson, Willie The Kid and Tri-State.
“The album is called Anchovies because of its obvious niche aspect,” Brown says. “Like the small fish, this album is a delicacy that is not for everyone: pungent, dirty, oily and an absolute acquired taste. The lyrical content is like a fisherman’s net, the sound is like the barnacles on the underside of a boat and it all goes together just like it should.”
