Today’s A Celebration of Life for Kobe and Gianna Bryant memorial service did not only have heartfelt speeches from Vanessa Bryant, Michael Jordan, SHAQ and others, but it also featured music by none other than Beyonce.
Queen Bey opened the show by performing “Halo” and “XO” in honor of the Black Mamba and his daughter Gigi, as more than 20,000 people gathered at STAPLES Center earlier today. The reason she sang “XO” was because it was one of Kobe’s favorite songs and she wanted everyone in the stands to feel the love and come together to celebrate him as a person.
Bey was backed by a choir and a string section and gave a stunning performance, while super star athletes, entertainers and family/friends gathered front row.
Watch the performance if you didn’t catch it earlier.
