Common is speaking on some real stuff on his upcoming album Black America Again. But what inspired him to talk about these subjects? He says that a lot of the books he was reading influenced him, seeing Kendrick Lamar‘s success with To Pimp A Butterfly and some of the artists he was watching as a fan. He says that a conversation about police brutality and unarmed men passing touched him to talk about some of the stuff he does on this album and tackle those topics.
As far as working with Stevie Wonder, he mentions it’s a privilege to work with the legendary singer, considering how much his music has inspired change.
