Common: Tiny Desk Concert at the White House

For the first time ever, NPR recently held a Tiny Desk Concert outside of the usual desk at NPR. However, it was good for reason, because it took place at the White House, with music coming from the one and only Common. The session went down at a day event called South by South Lawn, and it was the White House library where the Chicago rapper rapped with his musical friends.

Common started things off with the classic “I Used to Love H.E.R.,” followed by “Letter to the Free” from upcoming Netflix film 13th, and new songs “The Day the Women Took Over” and “Little Chicago Boy.” For the performance, he was joined by the likes of Bilal, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins — it doesn’t get much better than that.
