Drake Presents Rihanna with 2016 MTV Video Vanguard Award at VMAs

To be in the class with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Janet Jackson is incredible. Last night, Rihanna was the recipient of the MTV Video Vanguard Award and none other than Drake presented her with it. She’s come a long way in 11 years, shattering Billboard records and being one of the most successful artists of this generation.

During his speech, Drizzy confessed his love to her and reminisced about the time he met her shooting her video for “Pon De Replay” in Toronto. He said she’s always stayed the same and has had the same folks around her since the start and he looks up to her, even though she’s younger than him.

RiRi thanked all her fans, directors, management team and said this award was for her country, the Caribbean and people that have supported her throughout her career. She said she’s proud of accepting the award and what started out as ‘her dream’ has now evolved into so much more.

But of course, all anyone could talk about following the speech was how she curved Drake with the kiss on stage. Drake made sure to play down the rumors, though.
